Background & Purpose
For over 30 years there have been many dedicated individuals who have conducted numerous interventions and been steadfastly working within the Central Queensland community. This work culminated in the FASD CQ Symposium (an NDCO Region 21 initiative) which occurred in October 2017 at which it was agreed to form the FASD CQ Alliance.
NDCO for Region 21 is a member of the FASD CQ Alliance and works to provide professional development opportunities for educators, while raising awareness of FASD and improving linkages to services for those who have been diagnosed with FASD.
The Alliance supports the development of an effective and collaborative regional approach which aims to positively impact the lives of people of Central Queensland. The Alliance endeavours to collectively foster, nurture and facilitate ongoing development for service groups. The areas of focus are as follows:
- Increase knowledge and awareness of FASD
- Improve services and interventions
- Increase Expertise and research
- Foster collaboration and co-operation
